Gálapagos: Día 4 - Semour and Bachas Tour

The Seymour tour was my least favorite tour out of all the tours maybe because I'm not a big fan of birds.  This trip took us to the island of Seymour Norte which is a small island close to Baltra Island. The island's landscape is virtually all dry land with few vegetation.  This tour was all about the Frigate bird as there were hundreds flying everywhere on the island. We learned about how to tell which was male and female and also how the males attract their mates.

On the island we saw land and marine iguanas.  I was already familar with the land iguanas after visiting Parque Iguanas in Guayaquil.  The marine iguanas were interesting. They were smaller than their cousins found on the land.

We also saw different colored land iguanas.

Pelicans!

We were also able to see blue footed boobies. Can you tell why they are called that? :P

I learned about the holy tree. The sap of the tree is used for medicine and smells like mint.  When you rub in on your skin, you can feel a soothing sensation.  They also said this sap is dangerous around flames and can catch on fire.

After learning so much about the frigate birds :O, we went to a nearby beach to snorkel.  Lucky for me, I didn't bring my swimming gear but I was happy to just wander the beach and enjoy the sun just the same.
