Pinzon Island is a small island to the west of Santa Cruz Island. It was about an hour by boat from Puerto Ayoro. Our first stop involved a wet landing on a part of the island to see the inhabitants.
We were able to see iguanas (both land and sea). One male Iguana came charging out from the bushes. He just wanted to show us who was in charge on the island. :)
After seeing the Iguanas, we switched modes and went snorkeling. This was one of the best snorkeling experiences I have ever had. The water was crystal clear. The temperature was perfect. And there were many animals in the water - seals, turtles and fish! We were able to get so close to them without them running away!
By the shoreline, we saw marine iguanas swimming in the ocean and also brightly colored crabs.
On this day also, I became friends with a mermaid. I met Ignacia from Chile who turned out to be the best diving partner I could ever have. She could swim for miles and for hours not to mention she is super funny and cute!
On the way back home we so lucky to spot a pod of 30+ dolphins! The dolphins swam next to our boat. Here's a compilation of all the vids that Ignacia took:
Ignacia and I didn't want the day to end, so we went to Playa de Estacion. It's a local beach in Puerto Ayoro. We must have swam for hours that afternoon. We followed *rays and fish until it got so late.
Before going to the beach, we stopped by a small 'recycled' art gallery park where all the art on the walls were made of garbage.
Awesome day!
