Kary and I woke up early and went out to look for food. It turns out that most restaurants are closed on Sundays around where we were. As we passed restaurant after restaurant that was closed we became more and more hungry.
We eventually found an Venezuelan restaurant open where we ordered a typical Venezuelan breakfast. The owners were from Venezuela and they told us about how life was like in their country and that they moved to Ecuador to start a new life because the conditions were not good to raise a family.
After breakfast, we walked around until we found an artesnal market selling crafts and clothings. I ended up buying alpaca blankets, some sweaters and shirts for my nephew and some chocolates and tea to bring home to my friends.
Kary was in need of a jacket because the temperature in Quito at night time drops under 10C. So, we walked to a mall which was of course closed. As luck would have it, there was a street vendor selling jackets for $25USD. Kary picked out a nice jacket and I also got the same jacket because I liked the design and material it was made of.
We ended up going to the grocery store and stocking up on foods we can cook at home. Sunday was going to be a rest day for both of us and we decided to stay home and plan out the rest of the week.
For dinner, Kary cooked sopa de queso and estofado de polllo with the ingredients we bought in the afternoon.
Here is Kary's recipe for the sopa de queso:
We ended the night dancing and singing and taking some pictures from the amazing view on the rooftop. The next day, we planned on waking up early and seeing the Panecillo.
